Who said you have to leave Paris to get some exercise among the budding trees? Certainly not us. Here’s the proof: a selection of parks and gardens where you can take part in sports activities without spending a dime.

Kellerman Park (13th)

Well known to residents ofthe 13th arrondissement, Kellermann Park is a real gem. Designed in the 1930s, it spans nearly 6 hectares and three levels, connected by a peaceful stream that originates from a waterfall before flowing into a pond. Greenery is everywhere, and the park even features an educational farm for animal lovers! The park is also popular with runners, who fill its leafy paths. In fact, running sessions (led by instructors from the City of Paris) are offered every Monday and Thursday at noon.

Montsouris Park (14th)

Paris, 19th century. The capital is undergoing a major transformation under the leadership of Baron Haussmann. Alongside the construction of new thoroughfares, the urban planner decided to provide Parisians with large green spaces. This led to the creation of, among others, Parc Monceau (8th arrondissement), Parc des Buttes-Chaumont (19th arrondissement), and Parc Montsouris (14th arrondissement). Built, like its counterpart in eastern Paris, on the site of a former quarry, the latter stands out for its rolling terrain and lush vegetation. A complete change of scenery guaranteed! Fitness sessions are offered every Sunday morning along its shaded paths.

André-Citroën Park (15th)

With its expansive lawns sloping gently down toward the Seine, its small canal, its themed gardens, and its futuristic tree-lined paths, André-Citroën Park reflects the spirit of the industrialist whose name it bears: avant-garde. A favorite among families in the southwest part of the capital, it’s also one of the most pleasant places to exercise. In fact, you can come and participate in free fitness sessions, held every Sunday morning!

Martin Luther King Park (17th)

Since its opening in 2020, Martin Luther King Park has become the true green lung of northwest Paris and is one of the capital’s most ambitious green spaces. Spanning nearly 10 hectares, its northern section features some 60 cherry trees in bloom. Not a bad spot for a quick fitness boxing class on a Sunday morning, for example?
