Safety and traffic perimeters
Similar to the competition venues, the Paris Police Prefecture has established safety perimeters around the Paralympic road race courses to protect spectators, athletes, and local residents.
Is your address within a traffic restriction perimeter?

SETTING UP THE RED PERIMETER
The red perimeter will be set up 3 hours before the start of each competition, resulting in traffic restrictions.
As a reminder, no Games Pass is required to access this perimeter. The perimeter will be lifted progressively after the last athlete has passed through:
-
Friday August 30, from 4.30am to 10.45am: activation of the red perimeter.
-
Sunday September 1, from 5:15 a.m. to 6 p.m.: activation of the red perimeter.
The red perimeter will not be activated during course inspections on August 29 and 31. However, traffic restrictions are to be expected in the vicinity of Pont Alexandre III (athletes' departure point).
IMPACT ON MOTORIZED VEHICLES
Friday, August 30, 2:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
Closure to motorized traffic will be phased in between 5 and 3 hours before course inspection (scheduled for 8:45 a. m.), i.e. between 2:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. (time of red perimeter activation).
Sunday, September 1, 3:15 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Closure to motorized traffic will take place progressively between 5 h and 3 h before the start of the race (scheduled for 8.15 h), i.e. between 3.15 a.m. and 5.15 a.m. (time of red perimeter activation)
IMPACT ON PEDESTRIANS AND CYCLISTS
Pedestrians and cyclists (on foot) can still travel within the red perimeter, outside the race course.
Crossing points will be set up every 200 to 300 meters along the race route. They will be open up to 15 minutes before the runners cross, and 15 minutes afterwards. It may be necessary to wait a few minutes before crossing, depending on the number of runners and the progress of the race. To find out about these crossing points, please consult the interactive map.
COURSE REOPENING
The barricades set up along the course will be progressively lifted after the end of the paratriathlon event on Sunday, September 1.
Paralympic Marathon
When?
The Paralympic marathon event will take place on Sunday, September 8, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., from La Courneuve to Les Invalides. On this day, we advise you to avoid travelling by car.
SETTING UP THE RED PERIMETER
The red perimeter on the course will be set up 3 hours before the start of the race, resulting in traffic restrictions.
As a reminder, no Games Pass is required to access this perimeter. As the marathon is by definition a moving event, the system will be gradually lifted once the last athlete has passed through:
-
Sunday September 8, from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m.: activation of the red perimeter.
No familiarization (i.e. athletes scouting out the course) is planned prior to the official event.
IMPACT ON MOTORIZED VEHICLES
Sunday, September 8, 3 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Closure to motorized traffic will take place progressively between 5 a.m. and 3 a.m. before the start of the race (scheduled for 8 a.m.), i.e. between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. (activation time of the red perimeter).
IMPACT ON PEDESTRIANS AND CYCLISTS
Pedestrians and cyclists (on foot) can still circulate within the red perimeter, outside the race course.
